Early morning in Big Cottonwood Canyon in Utah

It’s not all rocky, as you can see plenty of changing colors on the trees.
The St. Louis Gateway Arch is also known as the Gateway to the West.
This picture was quickly taken while still in the car from the east side of the arch as a silhouette of the arch and the stairs underneath

Not sure the reason why a random tree in the middle of a desert is completely full of random shoes.
But so it is in California somewhere near Mojave and Joshua Tree
Lots of explanations as to why people do it are found on this wikipedia entry – why this particular tree… who knows.
