Lanzarote island

Lanzarote, the easternmost of Canary Islands, is a mystic and dreaming land. It’s an island of lava and foam, where you can find the eternal spring, with its dazzling sun, the low ruddy hills, the white villages and the strong and always present wind coming from anywhere.

An island with several faces so peculiar: the sandy lowland in the western side (Jable), the recent craters of the eruptions on 1730 (Parque Nacional de Timanfaya), the volcanic hills with their vineyards (La Geria) and the spectacular beaches.

Lanzarote is a unique island, maybe a never sunk chip of the legendary Atlantis island.

The Elk can be seen from the Elk Meadow Day Use Area off Davison Road in Orick, California.

Roosevelt Elk, also known as Olympic Elk, are the largest subspecies of Elk still surviving in North America.  They grow to be six to ten feet tall.  At adulthood, Elk bulls generally weigh between 700 and 1100 pounds.  Elk normally live to be 12 to 15 years old in the wild, but have been known to live to be 25.

While working on pictures in my office I saw through the cracks in the shutter quite a lot of colors peaking through… so I ran outside and just had to take a few pictures of this extraordinary sunset.

Pictures are of Lehi Utah just around my office.

Zion National Park is located in the Southwestern United States, near Springdale, Utah. A prominent feature of the 229 square miles (590 km2) park is Zion Canyon, which is 15 miles (24 km) long and up to half a mile (800 m) deep, cut through the reddish and tan-colored Navajo Sandstone by the North Fork of the Virgin River. The lowest elevation is 3,666 ft (1,117 m) at Coalpits Wash and the highest elevation is 8,726 ft (2,660 m) at Horse Ranch Mountain. Located at the junction of the Colorado Plateau, Great Basin, and Mojave Desert regions, the park’s unique geography and variety of life zones allow for unusual plant and animal diversity. Numerous plant species as well as 289 species of birds, 75 mammals (including 19 species of bat), and 32 reptiles inhabit the park’s four life zones: desert, riparian, woodland, and coniferous forest. Common plant species include cottonwood, Cactus, Datura, Juniper, Pine, Boxelder, Sagebrush, yucca , and various willows. Notable megafauna include mountain lions, mule deer, and Golden Eagles, along with the reintroduced Bighorn Sheep. Zion National Park also has rare and endangered species such as the Peregrine Falcon, Mexican spotted owl, California condor, desert tortoise, and the Zion snail (found nowhere else on earth). Zion National Park includes mountains, canyons, buttes, mesas, monoliths, rivers, slot canyons, and natural arches.
